![]() ![]() Newcomers to classical music will find this album to be user-friendly, though anyone who already owns a few greatest-hits compilations will be acquainted with most of the music. Martin-in-the-Fields, the Tallis Scholars, Simon Rattle and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Adrian Boult and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and Riccardo Muti and the Philharmonia Orchestra, along with several vocalists and instrumentalists of note. The artists are among the most celebrated, including Neville Marriner and the Academy of St. Excerpts from popular works by Bach, Villa-Lobos, Verdi, Rachmaninov, Fauré, Vaughan Williams, and Canteloube give the program a comfortable familiarity, along with such perennial favorites as Pachelbel's Canon in D, Chopin's Prelude in E minor, Delibes' Flower Duet, and Debussy's La fille aux cheveux de lin. The author has chosen 15 classical pieces that create a gentle, reflective mood, which many readers will appreciate as background music, much as James enjoyed listening to these selections while she wrote her book. James' erotic best-seller has produced its share of controversy, Fifty Shades of Grey: The Classical Album is as safe and unprovocative as a companion CD to a book can be. Needless to say, my grade was lowered all because I couldn't get what I needed.While E.L. I am VERY upset that I wasted money on what I thought was the only way to get a specific arrangement and it turned out to be wrong. Upon looking at the music and trying to follow it while listening to Annie's recording, I realized that not only is the song in the wrong key, but half of the chords are wrong. It came within the time frame given to me, but that was the only good thing about this book. ![]() But I had a class to pass, so I bit the bullet and bought the book. I was already unhappy seeing that the single song I needed for a grade could only be available in an overpriced book with other songs I don't want or need. Lennox did her arrangement for the movie. I looked everywhere I could find and no site had the music I was looking for. Let me begin by saying I was looking for Annie Lennox's version of I Put A Spell On You for a class at my college.
